I don’t know how did that happen, I just found it like this when I took it out of my pocket. I have to admit, I was carelessly carrying it with no case or anything to protect it :(. I don’t think this can be fixed, maybe it’s the time to get a new one :(. It is still working though, I can hear the photos inside :P.
This is one of my favourite illustrators. When I first saw that “KEANE” album I was wondering who did that awesome illustration on the cover, and I remember it was like 2 years ago. What I don’t remember now, is how I found her website like a month or two ago :D. I even went looking for the limited edition of the album which contains the booklet you see above and bought it just for the artwork (crazy I know :P !!). Despite the fact that the album is actually great, this thing is piece of art. She has a really unique style of her drawings.. love it !!. Anyway check her website to see what I’m talking about. There are some screenprints and artworks she sells through her site, but they are way too expensive :(.
We had a really nice Indesign workshop earlier today at uni. It was helpful and the guy who did it is really good at it, actually I’m starting to like Indesign now :D. Yeah I don’t know why but every time I try to get my stuff done on it I end up lost and just leave it and go back to Illustrator or other application. I know how powerful is that program and its unique features, but I just couldn’t get along with it.
Anyway the tutor mentioned this site, and I just checked it out. Cool website, a lot of design topics and inspirations. I’ve added it to the “karohat” list as well (I think I need to find a solution to arrange that stuff :S).
I’ve been using RSS readers for more than 3 years now. I Just like to read my news feeds in a separate application. Apple has tried to incorporate that with Safari and Mail but they both didn’t work for me. One of the best applications out there is “Newsfire” which I’m using right now —thanks Aymen :). Anyway, there is always a room for new ideas and improvement. This is what “Times” about, it’s a really cool and innovative way of reading the news. It basically uses the same look and layout of a normal news paper with a customizable placement for headlines and the news you read the most. It costs $30 though, but there is a demo which I think I’m going to give it a try, or maybe wait for SOMEONE to buy it and give me his registration info :P. Let me know if you have tried it.
It’s been a while since I have downloaded new widgets for the dashboard in my mac. I used to look for new and helpful ones when I first installed Tiger, but not anymore. Anyway, I found this small and simple “Timer” widget —and I like simplicity in everything— earlier today. You can set it up as a reminder to open a file, turn on/off music in iTunes, or just a beep alarm. I personally use timers when cooking (I know I’m not, but at least I prepare eatable food :P). It’s well-designed and the sound alarms that come with it are nice as well.
I really got bored of the previous style and banner of the blog & finally changed it, I’m still using the same theme here though.. but with a new fresh look.. hope so :).
Next step? .. uh .. well I feel this place –at least for the time being– has no content worth looking at :S , which is the “core” of the blog. So, probably adding more pages.. designs.. gallery.. whatever.. :).
Keep this for later, I better go back and work on my assignments, I have a presentation and a full sized book mock-up due this week.
I finally got my copy of the current issue of Curvy magazine. It’s basically a collection of artworks and illustrations from all over the world, featuring around 100 female artists. it’s just great, the artworks are amazing and very inspiring. In this issue (no. 5), one of the featured artists is my nice friend and talented Caro Caro. Congratulations Caro, I’ve always been a fan of your art & vector style.
